Abigail Fayette, 13, from Wading River, New York on Long Island's North Shore,
is the youngest of four children in a musical family. She began her violin studies at the age of three with Jo Schifter at North Shore Suzuki School, continued with Min-Young Kim of the Daedalus Quartet at School for Strings in New York City and was accepted into the Pre, College Division of the Juilliard School in 2004 as a scholarship student of Ms. Shirley Givens. In December of 2004, at the age of 10, she won the Pre-College Chamber Orchestra Mozart D Major Concerto Competition and made her Lincoln Center debut. Most recently, she performed in a benefit concert at the New York Society for Ethical Culture to support music and arts programs for children and performed as soloist with the Sound Symphony in its 2007 summer concert series.
In 2005, Abigail was invited, at the age of 11, to attend the Hotchkiss Summer Portals program, a chamber music program for exceptionally talented violinists, violists, cellists and pianists ages 12- 15. She has attended the Junior Division of Greenwood Music Camp since 2004 and performed the Mendelssohn Concerto with the camp orchestra this past summer. She has been chosen as one of 8 violinists to inaugurate a new chamber music program at Juillliard's Pre-College.
In October of 2007, Abi spent a week in Texas performing 6 Outreach Concerts in conjunction with the EI Paso School District and the EI Paso Symphony, played a recital and performed the first movement of Paganini's Concerto #1 with the EI Paso Symphony Youth Orchestra under the direction of Ben Loeb.
An 8th grade honor student at Albert G. Prodell Middle School in Shoreham, New York, Abi enjoys bike riding, field hockey, chamber music and reading and spends time caring for her family's 2 dogs, 4 cats and her fish named Roger. She would like to go to the Curtis Institute of Music and become a famous performing violinist.
